- Water requirement
- The quantity of water, regardless of its source, required by a crop in a given period of time, for its normal growth under field conditions. It includes surface evaporation and other economically unavoidable wastes.
- Water reuse
- Capture and use of water discharged or lost by a previous user.
- Water Supply
- The amount of water provided to meet water demand.
- Water Supply Capacity
- The rate of water that infrastructure can provide.
- Water Supply Management
- Actions, laws, regulations etc. to develop the use of water and protect resources
- Water Supply Planning
- The process by which data are collected and processed to assess water demand and water-supply development alternatives.
- Water table
- The surface of the zone of saturation at which the pressure is equal to that of the atmosphere.
- Water Use
- The amount of water either withdrawn from groundwater or surface water sources or utilized instream to meet water demand.
- Water Vapor
- The most abundant greenhouse gas; it is the water present in the atmosphere in gaseous form. Water vapor is an important part of the natural greenhouse effect. While humans are not significantly increasing its concentration, it contributes to the enhanced greenhouse effect because the warming influence of greenhouse gases leads to a positive water vapor feedback. In addition to its role as a natural greenhouse gas, water vapor plays an important role in regulating the temperature of the planet because clouds form when excess water vapor in the atmosphere condenses to form ice and water droplets and precipitation. See greenhouse gas.
- Water Withdrawal
- The amount of water that is actually withdrawn from groundwater or surface water sources to meet water demand. (See also, Offstream Use)
