- Warm Air Advection
- Warm front
- A boundary between a warm airmass that is replacing a cooler airmass.
- Warning
- Forecast issued when a particular hazard is "imminent" or already occurring (e.g., tornado warning, flash flood warning).
- Warning stage
- The level of a river or stream which may cause minor flooding, and at which concerned interests should take action.
- Waste
- When the relative value of a good is different from that goods marginal cost of production, waste occurs. Goods or resources are wasted when they are allocated to uses which are not the most valuable.
- Waste treatment pond
- A shallow lagoon or similar storage facility, often man-made, used to treat liquid agricultural wastes, particularly liquid manure from livestock production farms, through the interaction of sunlight, wind, algae, and oxygen. Through natural biological processes, microscopic organisms consume wastes present in the water.
- Wastewater
- The spent or used water from a home, community, farm, or industry that contains dissolved or suspended matter.
- Watch
- Forecast issued well in advance to alert the public of the possibility of a particular hazard (eg. tornado watch, flash flood watch).
- Water Availability
- The amount of water that occurs in rivers, streams, lakes, reservoirs, and aquifers at any given time or over a period of time.
