- Natural gas
- Underground deposits of gases consisting of 50 to 90 percent methane (CH4) and small amounts of heavier gaseous hydrocarbon compounds such as propane (C3H4) and butane (C4H10).
- Natural gas liquids (NGLs)
- Those hydrocarbons in natural gas that are separated as liquids from the gas. Includes natural gas plant liquids and lease condensate.
- Natural Monopoly
- One producer supplying all of the market at lower costs than many producers could.
- Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)
- A USDA agency responsible for developing and carrying out national soil and water programs in cooperation with landowners, operators, and others. It was created in 1994 reorganization legislation by merging the Soil Conservation Service and many of the conservation cost-sharing programs of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. The NRCS is responsible for developing and carrying out national soil and water conservation programs in cooperation with landowners, farm operators, and others. More than 70% of the approximately 12,000 employees work at the field level.
- Natural Unemployment Rate
- An economy's civilian unemployment rate when supply and demand for labor are equal. The natural rate is the percentage of the civilian labor force unemployed at one time or another during any given year multiplied by the average time people spend searching for jobs.
- NCDC

- NCEP
- National Centers for Environmental Prediction. Central computer and communications facility of the National Weather Service; located in Washington, DC.
- Need
- A specific quantity of a specific good for which an individual would pay any price.
- Net Worth
- The difference between the assets and liabilities of a person or business.
- NEXRAD
- NEXt Generation RADar. A NWS network of about 140 Doppler radars operating nationwide.
